Golfing Events

Inglewood Golf Club has a number of great golfing events throughout the year. All of our golfing events provide our members with some friendly competition to test their skills while providing an opportunity to meet new members.

March - Foul Weather Classic
This is the major kick-off event of the Men’s 2019 golf calendar year. The Foul Weather Classic is played rain or shine, so prepare for the worst, yet let’s hope for the best! Competition is either a random draw team ‘Shamble’ or ‘Scramble’, great formats for the opening to everyone’s tournament season. Buffet lunch after the round.

April - July - Senior Team Matches
Inglewood Seniors play a series of home-and-away matches with several local private clubs. Each team plays once at home and once away in a combined point’s match play team format. Matches are once a month beginning in April and included the following opponents: Everett, Sand Point, Bellingham and Glendale. All members over the age of fifty are eligible to play these highly spirited matches.

April - Men’s Masters Tournament
Play Inglewood with the pins tucked in some precarious spots in this Inglewood Masters tradition. This competition allows you to create your own team or let the Golf Shop assist you in finding a team. A Stableford Points Team format will highlight the foursome game, along with individual overall Low Gross, and Divisional Low Nets. Our annual “Pick a Partner” from the Master’s field adds excitement to the viewing of Augusta’s final round – as we add your Saturday “net score” to your favorite player’s Sunday score from Augusta. Buffet lunch and awards following the round.

April - August - Men’s Two Man Best Ball
Another favorite on the Men’s golf calendar. Exciting team matches are the format of this event. Players will make their own teams or have the Golf Shop help find a partner. Sign up quickly, as space is limited to the first (64) two man teams to return a completed entry form to the Golf Shop. Players compete at 90% handicaps with matches figured off of the low player, who plays from scratch.

May - August - Men’s Captain’s Cup
This is a head to head individual gross or handicap match play competition. Gross flight is played at scratch; Handicap flight uses 100% of individual handicaps with strokes taken where they fall. If you haven’t played much match play, this is your chance! Enjoy the game in one of its oldest competitive formats.

May - September - Couples Twilight Golf & Dinner Nine holes
If casual, stress free golf with your fellow members or guests is what you desire, and then Twilight Golf & Dinner events are just right for you! These events are a great way to enjoy some light competition followed by a wonderful dinner with your fellow members and guests. Each event has a central theme, like Western, or Glow Ball (Night Golf). The competitions are generally a six-some alternate shot scramble with three men and three women on each team. Members are allowed to invite up to five guests to play on their six-some team. Social members welcome.

May - Men’s Spring Classic Saturday
ABCD team format in this popular Men’s Event. Emphasis on the Team portion, with Individual Competition – gross and net. An Optional Horserace follows play and lunch at about 3:00 p.m. Take this opportunity to meet a few new friends and enjoy the day at our club! Includes lunch, prizes and hors d’oeuvres after horse race.

May - Men’s Guest Day
Great chance to show your favorite guest just how special Inglewood Golf Club is! Enjoy a great round of golf with a two-man best ball competition as the day’s play, then followed by a wonderful dinner.

June - Men’s US Open Day (Prime Players Only) - Saturday & Sunday
Play Inglewood at its toughest! Our Superintendent and Golf Staff will serve up a course for all challengers! Double cut and rolled greens, very clever pin placements, and Black Tees (50 years of age and up – may play from the Blues). Put together your own foursomes, or let the Golf Staff arrange a game for you on Saturday’s tee time day. Individual Competition is the name of this event, along with our annual “Beat the Pro” competition available this day as well. Mike will play from the Black Tees. You may play either day or both days. This weekend is always a challenge, so bring your best game to the Club!

June - Men’s Member-Member (Thursday - Saturday)
Horserace Thursday, tee times Friday & Saturday. Our first major event on the Men’s calendar for 2019. This popular two-man team event fills quickly, so find your partner for 2019 and get your entry in quickly. As in the past, teams must consist of different partners for the Member-Member & Fall Classic in the same year. The tournament begins Thursday with an exciting three-man Horse Race event at 2:30 p.m. Upon completion of the Horse Race the staff opens a rather challenging putting course for your entertainment during the cocktail and hors d’oeuvres time. Dinner and Calcutta round out the evening. For the weekend’s competition teams are split into three divisions based on combined handicap. Friday’s format is Partner’s Best Ball Points, and Saturday’s format is Combined Points. Pairings and start times for Saturday’s final round are based on the opening day’s scores. Trophies and credits are awarded to our Overall Champions (net) as well as our Gross Champions. Golf shop credit for divisional payouts as well. Entry includes dinner Thursday, breakfast and lunch Friday & Saturday, and heavy hors d’oeuvres on Saturday evening upon completion of play!

July - Mixed Chapman
This two-day mixed couple’s partnership tournament extravaganza is open to all Inglewood members, associates, and their guests* (see below) who are over the age of 21 and possess a current and valid USGA handicap index. Each player hits a tee shot, (Men –Blue tees, Women- Gold tees), players then hit their partner’s ball for the second shot. Teams then select the best second shot, and alternate shots until ball is holed. August - Inglewood Invitational (Wednesday - Saturday)
2019 welcomes the 84th edition of the Inglewood Invitational. Treat a special guest or client to three days of exciting competition, wonderful food, and a beautifully manicured golf course. Entry priority is given to previous year’s participants, but don’t hesitate to complete an entry as new participants generally make the starting field. Our “talk of the town” Invitational begins on Wednesday afternoon with a three-person Horserace. Music, heavy hors d’oeuvres and our welcoming party generally greets our final Horse Race contestants and spectators near the 18th green, this opening evening is open to all contestants and their spouse/ guest. Our opening round Thursday begins with the difficult two-man Chapman Points format, the evening plays host to our annual Calcutta and Dinner for our contestants only. Second round play continues on Friday with Best Ball Points, the evening open for other activities or plans. Saturday’s final round is played with a Combined Points format, which generally separates even the closest races! Wind it all down with a fabulous dinner party with dancing for all on Saturday evening!
